I've been out of your radar for some time now, but that doesn't mean I haven't been busy.
Quilting and other things.
I have so much to tell you and I hope you'll listen (read).

I am making a quilt for my mum who celebrated her 81st birthday last week.
The top is nearly ready and then I need to quilt it; perhaps just straight lines diagonally both ways.
I am currently sewing borders to it; a red, a flowery and then a wider red one.
It's red and flowery; I'll show it when it's quilted (don't know how yet).
Well ok, here's a sneak peak:

I showed my mum some of my fabrics so she could choose, and she chose a double jelly roll (20 pieces width of fabric and 5" wide) I bought in the UK last year. Perhaps you know the right name for that kind of precut?
I chose the background color, she wanted a dark background color if she spilled coffee on it ...

Wedding anniversary

Twelve and a half years ago

What I've been up to lately

Together with my mum I did a workshop making felt stones: a morning of talking, felting, eating cake, drinking coffee and more talking: it was fun!

And yesterday we had a meeting of our regional Quilt Guild which was a whole day of fun

We had to make a block in the morning by folding fabric and folding it again and then sewing it all together.

In the afternoon we were entertained by a lady of a hat museum. I love hats!

And we all got to wear one in the end.

The quilt shown (also in detail) was a Japanese design full of Drunkard's Path.

And I could not resist the silk book cover with embroidered wreath: awww

This weekend I'm off with former colleagues to Ameland, a Dutch Isle. I walked there once, at low tide of course. But that was at least 30 kilos ago ...

We'll be mostly seeing this I hope

Happiness is ...

Whatever the postman brings in big envelopes or packages, like this big one:

All half metres of Salt Water by Tula Pink, but you knew that.

Haven't got a clue yet what to do with them except enjoying them just as they are.

The quick project I told you about last time is nearly ready; I'll show you when it's ready.

Can anyone tell me how to quilt minkee? Will it not lose its fluffiness?

January

The first month of the year is over and I feel as if I've accomplished something.
Besides a lot of snow and cold thus feeding the birds, I have been sewing!
And enjoying it too.

My Dead Simple Scrappy Trip around the World consists of 9 blocks at the moment and I think I'd like to add some (7? 14?) more. (One block is totally messed up and I'll unpick that)

The birds in the garden had a lot to eat. The latest thing (craze?) here is saltless peanutbutter for them. Especially when it's really cold they eat a jar in 2 to 3 days.

Blackbirds love apples and eat everything around the core.

Ahh my daughter's hamster died; she buried it in our garden.

(She's 23 so no drama's there)

I'm glad my sewing mojo is back!

Now I'm off to look at all the others at Lynn's and I'll be at this Friday Party

Dead Simple around the world

Of course I've been bitten by that Scrappy Trip around the World too.
And now I know how I'm going to make mine: I still have a bunch of fat quarters lying around after inspiration hit me from Lily's Dead Simple Quilt.
